Tattoo Aftercare

What is the recommended aftercare?

If a plastic wrap is utilized, please keep it on for at least 2 hours. We usually use an ADHESIVE BANDAGE for our clients.  Keep the adhesive bandage on for up to 3 - 4 days.  Since this bandage is breathable and waterproof, you can shower normally with it on and resume everyday activities with minimal discomfort. Adhesive bandages protect your new tattoo from scabbing, infection, and other irritants.

Before taking the bandage or plastic wrap off, wash your hands with antibacterial soap. We recommend using Dial liquid gold (Plain) soap.

When removing your bandage, rinse the tattoo with warm water (not hot) and antibacterial soap.  Pat down with a clean paper towel until dry.

After removing your bandage, wash twice a day with warm water and antibacterial soap then apply a thin layer of “Hustle Butter” or “Aquaphor” ointment 3-4 times a day.

It is essential to keep your tattoo clean and moisturized. Please seek medical attention if warranted.

What NOT to Do

Avoid soaps with any fragrances or harsh chemicals

Avoid antibiotic and petroleum-based ointments, such as Vaseline, and Polysporin.

Do not scratch or pick at the tattoo even if it becomes itchy.

Avoid direct sunlight.

Avoid tanning beds.

Avoid soaking the tattoo in water.

Avoid the gym, no workouts.

Touch Up

Before deciding if your tattoo needs retouching, please allow a minimum of one month for it to heal completely. Once that time has passed, email us directly with a picture of your tattoo.  Your artist will respond and offer a time to perform the touch-up if deemed necessary.

The first scheduled touch-up is free of charge up to 1 year after the initial appointment, with the exception of finger, hand, face, foot and inner lip tattoos.  Further touch-ups or alterations will require additional fees.

Touch ups are honored by their original artists. If the artist is no longer at Yant, you can contact them for the touch up.
